Metropole MD launches cancer charity fund raising during awareness month
Justin Baird-Murray, MD at the four-star Metropole Hotel and Spa in Llandrindod Wells, will be running next year’s London Marathon to raise money for the charity Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Mr Baird-Murray, who will be running in the world-famous race on April 26, 2015, is aiming to raise thousands of pounds for the charity, and has launched his fund-raising efforts in November as this is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.
Pancreatic cancer affects thousands of people every year, and is the 10th most common cancer. However, as yet, the causes are unknown, although smoking and long-term heavy drinking are thought to be risk factors.
Mr Baird Murray has already run the London Marathon, raising money for Muscular Dystrophy in 2012.
“My aim is to start early with the fund raising drive to maximise the potential for raising money for this worthwhile cause,†he says. “And, of course, launching during the awareness month will help highlight the support that is available for sufferers and their families.â€
