Ginetta To Field Two-Car Works Team In 2013 British GT
One of the most prestigious racing teams in the British GT are set to make a triumphant return to the championship, as former Le Mans 24 Hour and BGT winners Ginetta Cars announce a two-car works team for the 2013 season.
Ginetta are thrilled to be showcasing the pinnacle of their racing cavalry, the 4.35 V8 engined Ginetta G55 GT3, by entering a pair of factory prepared cars in what is undoubtedly the most prestigious GT championship running in the UK.
Ginetta have already enjoyed much success in 2012 with their works Ginetta G55 GT3 car, as Ginetta Chairman and 2006 Le Mans winner Lawrence Tomlinson and factory driver Mike Simpson brought home a pair of wins in both the Snetterton and Donington rounds of the MSA Britcar Endurance Championship as well as a top four finish in the teams debut appearance in the British GT at Silverstone earlier this year.
The team will be headed by Michael Tallentire and Marcos Lameirao, who have lead the development of the Ginetta GT programme since its inauguration, and worked closely with Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson to develop the G55 GT3 over the 2012 season.
The homologated Ginetta G55 GT3 is proving to be one of the best packages on the market in terms of value for money and performance, and Ginetta are already in discussions with a number of prospective racers, with driver-line up announcement poised for the coming weeks.
Tomlinson said; "Ginetta's outings thus far have proven the Ginetta G55 GT3 as a highly competitive car and a rival for any marque in the GT3 category. Capable of holding its own on increasingly competitive grids, the G55 GT3 will be an affordable, outright winner in 2013."
The project will be separate to the Team LNT entry of Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson and Factory Driver Mike Simpson, who are looking at running a third G55 GT3 machine in Europe.
