Variety Young Ambassadors and Paralympians treated to musical performances by Joe McElderry, Britain's Got Talent contestants Jonathan and Charlotte and the cast of Thriller.
Variety, the Children's Charity's Chief Barker Keith Andrews announced today that the guests who attended Variety's Christmas Lunch on Tuesday at The Bloomsbury Big Top, raised an impressive £45,000 for children throughout the UK who are sick, disabled and disadvantaged.
The Christmas Lunch saw musical performances from past X-Factor winner Joe McElderry, along with Britain's Got Talent runners-up, Jonathan and Charlotte and the cast of West-End musical, Thriller.
The event was attended by Variety supporters along with special guest attendees from Variety's Young Ambassadors, selected from the charity's Wheelchair Programme, and eight of their funded Paralympians from this year's 2012 games, who took part in a celebration of their achievements with Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, DBE and Duncan Goodhew, MBE.
Chief Barker of Variety, the Children's Charity, Keith Andrews said: "The Christmas Lunch brought together a fantastic mix of guests, including our celebrity and musical supporters and Young Variety Ambassadors exemplifying the work we do as a Charity: to have a good time while raising money for disadvantaged children - ensuring we can help them make the most of their childhoods".
With a focus on helping children who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged to make the most of their childhood, Variety, the Children's Charity, provides practical support through its mobility (Sunshine Coaches and electric wheelchairs), caring and health (equipping children's hospitals), youth and education programmes (Variety at Work and outings to exciting places). In 2011 alone, the charity ensured that almost 60,000 children throughout the UK were taken on fun days out.
