Pretoria – The death toll following the hostage crisis in Algeria, which started last Wednesday when an armed group assaulted an escorted a bus carrying 19 foreign nationals working in the Amenas gas field facility, has increased to 81.
The armed group then seized a group of workers and took refuge in a remote compound 3km away from the gas plant.
Algerian forces continue to search the site of the hostage crisis for explosives. An Algerian security official says the death toll from the bloody siege has been revised up to 81, 48 of them hostages.
Algerian troops have found bodies of 25 more hostages inside the plant. Many of the bodies were badly disfigured and were hard to identify immediately. In addition, a wounded Romanian who had been evacuated also died.
According to the survivors, the number of militants was around 20, which Algerian government has identified as from at least six countries.
Algerian Special Forces stormed the facility on Saturday, ending the four-day siege of the remote desert refinery, rescuing 685 Algerians and 107 foreigners.
Over the past days, the hostage crisis has raised worldwide concerns and aroused strong international condemnation.
The African Union (AU) has strongly condemned the attacks.
In a statement on Sunday, Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU), Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, said she strongly condemns “this heinous terrorist act, which cannot be justified under any circumstances, and reaffirms her concern over the worsening of the scourge of terrorism in the Sahelo-Saharan regionâ€. – SAnews.gov.za-Xinhua

The man is a pathological liar, end of, there is nothing further to write about the man. He cheated, bullied and destroyed other people’s lives for his own gain and fame. The best way I can contribute to all of this is never to mention his name and hope that the man no longer gets [...]The Liar is a post from: Time-4-Sport
