ITV has commissioned STV Productions to make a second series of hit game show Catchphrase.
The series of 9 x 45’ episodes, with an additional 3 x 60’ celebrity specials, will start filming in September.
The iconic show was revived with a brand new series in April 2013, featuring a revamped set, 3D graphics and a dynamic new end game. The series was a ratings success with an average audience of 4.9 million and an overall reach of just under 20 million across the series, making it the biggest new game show of the year across all channels.
Host Stephen Mulhern will return for the second series, joined of course by his animated sidekick, Mr Chips.
The series was commissioned by ITV's Controller of Entertainment, John Kaye Cooper.
Gary Chippington, head of entertainment at STV Productions, said: “We are hugely excited to be working on a second series of Catchphrase and look forward to giving the audience another chance to ‘say what they see’ as they play along with Stephen, Mr Chips and our studio contestants.â€
John Kaye Cooper, ITV's Controller of Entertainment, said: "We were delighted with the first series of the new Catchphrase and we're delighted to welcome Stephen and Mr Chips back with another series."

India’s Dongria Kondh tribe has overwhelmingly rejected plans by notorious British mining giant Vedanta Resources for an open-pit bauxite mine in their sacred Niyamgiri Hills, in an unprecedented triumph for tribal rights.
