Alliance to help save lives
#1
The National Safety Council and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration today renewed their Alliance to foster safer and healthier workplaces at the NSC Congress & Expo. Focus areas of the Alliance include addressing temporary and contract workers, motor vehicle safety, construction safety and the importance of establishing injury and illness prevention programs. They also agree to support and promote the new Journey to Safety Excellence campaign from the Council.

"NSC values our partnership with OSHA to keep workplaces safe," said Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. "Renewing this Alliance is a symbol of our combined dedication to eliminating injuries and fatalities on the job, as employees deserve to return home safely to their families each day."

Through the Alliance, the organizations will partner to distribute information on OSHA regulatory and enforcement initiatives, and develop best practice documents and outreach materials on hazard control, safety management systems and other relevant safety topics. They will speak and exhibit at each other's conferences and meetings, and will explore options to evaluate the effectiveness of the Alliance and measure its impact on improving worker safety.

The NSC Alliance with OSHA was most recently renewed in August 2012, and it will remain in effect for five years.
